BEAUTY AND THE BEAST OF ROCK     1st – 3rd February 2007 The Floral Pavilion Theatre
Another great successful pantomime and the last one for us in the old style Floral Pavilion Theatre. We are eagerly looking forward to the new style Floral and the re-opening!

For this performance we took the classic story of Beauty and the Beast and set it to modern day life incorporating rock music and changing the characters into rock legends such at Meatloaf, Ozzy Osbourne and Alice Cooper. They all meet at the "Queen Vic" and take part in an spectacular "air-guitar play-off".

Our pupils were invited to take part in a production at the Liverpool Empire to raise funds for two children's cancer charities. We had a great time and this has inspired us to produce our own show for charity which will be performed at the Liverpool Empire in 2008.
BROADWAY BABES    11th - 13th July 2007 Heswall Hall Theatre, Heswall

West End Wonders was a senior production only. This enabled us to perform songs, dances and drama scenes from popular West End shows, including brand new productions.
PETER PAN & HIS LOST SOUL BROTHERS      8th Jan 2008 Ellesmere Port Civic Centre & Swift Theatre, Wrexham
The traditional story of Peter Pan, and as all pantomimes have a dame ours this time was non other than Tinkerbell. The Soul Brothers were all boys who where brought up on cool vibes of Northern Soul.
THE LEVERHULME DRAMA FESTIVAL  14th - 19th April 2008 Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight
This year over 60 pupils took part in one act plays for the festival.

We were delighted that Jack Malone was awarded 2008 Best Actor. And that our Heswall group's performance of Happy Families by John Godber has been put through to the North West Finals on the Isle of Man.

MUSICAL MADNESS     January 2009
Ellesmere Port Civic Centre, Ellesmere Port & Floral Pavilion Theatre, New Brighton

In January this year, Starlight performed their show Musical Madness at the Ellesmere Port Civic Hall with the Ellesmere Port and Deeside groups.
Musical Madness was then performed at the brand new Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton. Starlight were the last youth group to perform a pantomime at the old building and were delighted to be the first amateur group back on stage at the newly built Floral Pavilion. Pupils were thrilled to have dressing rooms with air conditioning, showers and lights around the mirrors. The lighting at the new Floral is spectacular, and we cannot wait to go back and perform in July.
The show Musical Madness gave birth to extracts from various new musicals that appeal to our younger theatre members. We performed extracts from High School Musical, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Billy Elliot, Enchanted and The Lion King. We also added in a few favourites from West Side Story, Marry Poppins etc...

musical shows
Each year the Starlight Youth Theatre performs two full musicals at professional theatres across the North West. Performances are usually in January and July.

All pupils can take part in the shows, although pupils may still attend Starlight and not perform shows.

Auditions are held for pupils who wish to have an acting roll and parts on a merit-based term.

There is a show fee of £20.00 per show. This is to cover the many costs, such as costumes which can be as many as 5 sets per show!
